In order to ensure the quality of drugs being sold to the patients and to regulate the prices of the drugs a team comprising of Assistant Drug Controller, Tehsildar Rajouri and Drug inspectors today carried out surprise inspection of 85 medical shops across the district and collected samples of various medicines for lab testing and analysis. The inspection was carried out on the directions of Deputy Commissioner,Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad.
In Rajouri,32 medical shops were inspected by the team,15 shops were inspected in Darhal,07 in Manjakote,10 in Thanamandi,18 in Nowshera,and 03 in siot.
The team also suspended 04 licences of the Medical shops including Sashi Medical Hall Nowshera,Khan Medical Hall Thanamandi,Yaseen Medical Hall manjakote for one day and the license of Rashid medical Hall Darhal was suspended for 05 days because sale and purchase record was not maintained.
whereas it also served notices to Al shafa Health Mart Rajouri and life line Medical hall bus stand Rajouri beacuse there was no qualified person and sale record was also not maintained.
The team also collected 38 drug samples for lab testing and analysis to ascertain quality of drugs.
The Deputy Commissioner said the samples collected shall be sent for lab testing to ascertain the quality of drugs and appropriate action under rules shall be initiated in case of defaulters.
Speaking about the drive the Deputy Commissioner said that maintaining quality of medicines is of utmost importance and administration will leave no stone unturned in the interest of the common man. He said that it is the responsibility of the Department to ensure the availability of quality drugs to the public and the market is free from counterfeit, spurious and substandard drugs. He also instructed to make sure that no drugs are sold at a price higher than the retail price marked on the container.
He said more such inspections shall be conducted in the district and sub-divisional level to keep a check on the quality of drugs being made available to the patients.
